Position Details

Position: Folder/ Gluer/ Machine Operator

Location: Cambridgeshire

Salary: £31k – £40k (£15.63-£19.51 p/h)

Shifts

Work schedule: 1 week early shift, followed by 1 week late shift (9 day fortnight, rarely working Friday PM)

Early shift (Mon‑Fri): 05:30 to 13:45 – 38.75 hours per week

Late shift (Mon‑Wed): 13:45 to 00:00; (Thurs): 13:45 to 23:45 – 38.75 hours per week. Fridays not required.

All shifts include a 30‑minute unpaid lunch break.

Role

  • Rapid setup of machine to consistently achieve target speed/OEE for the line
  • Full understanding of safe operation of process machinery, including safety features, stops, lock‑out systems, and safe systems of work along with risk assessments for the work area and ancillary equipment, tooling and consumables (COSHH)
  • Strict adherence to job bag instructions and client‑approved master sample
  • Identify and notify Production Manager of potential issues on machine
  • Full understanding of corrugated material types to identify any material issues
  • Proactively carry out daily maintenance and support other TPM tasks
  • Responsible for assistants and feeders/stackers/packers
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment (5S) in the process area

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years gluing experience; Vega, Signature, Bobst, Diana machinery preferred
  • Experience in gluing 4‑corner, bookwraps, crash lock cartons & corrugated envelopes desired
  • Ability to carry out make‑readies to a high standard that allows the machine to run at optimal speed and reach OEE targets set
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and establishing root cause
  • Flexibility to cover other machines and learn new processes
  • Positive, helpful and motivated towards work
  • Reliable timekeeper and trustworthy
  • Team player with the ability to work on own initiative when needed
  • Cope with challenging jobs while seeking continual improvements within the process
  • Excellent communication skills
