We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Accountant to join our Divisional Management Accounts Team based in Hull. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build on their finance experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Reporting directly to the Divisional Management Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting financial reporting, maintaining strong financial controls, and providing valuable insights to business leaders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations across allocated nominal accounts
  • Ensure the accuracy of balance sheet and P&L expense postings, identifying and resolving discrepancies
  • Complete month-end reconciliations in line with reporting deadlines
  • Maintain the Divisional Asset Register, including depreciation and verification
  • Process ad-hoc sales invoices and credit notes as required
  • Support the preparation and distribution of monthly management accounts packs
  • Assist with divisional stock audits
  • Provide financial data, analysis, and insights to support decision-making
  • Offer cover and support to the Management Accountant and wider finance team
  • Ensure all finance processes are compliant with Group Financial Policy, audit standards, and internal controls

What We’re Looking For

  • Studying towards, AAT qualified, or a similar accounting qualification.
  • Experience working within a management accounts environment.
  • Experience with fixed asset accounting and month-end reporting processes
  • Strong reconciliation and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial accounting systems.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
