Role Overview
Wigan council is looking for a talented and motivated individual to train to become a CIPFA qualified accountant. This will include invaluable work experience across a wide range of financial services including service management accounting and corporate financial accountancy. You will be pivotal in supporting a high performing Finance team that was named Public Finance Team of the year in 2024.

Responsibilities
As a trainee accountant you will support the finance team, gaining hands‑on experience across a wide range of financial services including service management accounting and corporate financial accountancy.
Through a structured induction and ongoing mentorship you will develop leadership, management and professional skills, ultimately becoming a fully qualified accountant.
Qualifications & Requirements
Enthusiastic, highly motivated and dynamic individual with a desire to work in the public sector.
Passion for finance and a willingness to learn – past finance experience is not required.
Right to work in the UK (must be able to prove your right to work).
