Assistant Accountant

A respected and well-established organisation is seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join its friendly and supportive finance team.

Working as part of a small, close-knit finance team, you’ll enjoy a varied role with genuine responsibility, supporting the production of accurate financial information while contributing to the continued success of the business.

The Role

• Assisting with monthly project costing
• Completing inter-company, cashbook and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Supporting VAT returns, fixed asset accounting and monthly management accounts.
• Assisting with financial statement preparation and the annual external audit.
• Testing system upgrades and supporting colleagues with finance system queries.
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes and contribute to the efficiency of the finance function.

About You

• Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role.
• A sound understanding of reconciliations, VAT, month end processes and support with the production of monthly management accounts.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
• Good Excel skills and confidence using finance systems.
• A proactive, team-focused approach with a willingness to learn and develop.
• Experience within construction, engineering or another project-based environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
