Contract: Permanent, Full Time 37 hours per week Monday to Friday (flexible patterns available)

What you’ll be doing

As a key member of the Council Tax team, you will administer council tax, ensuring accurate and timely billing, collection, and recovery of unpaid accounts. You will support the team through training and then enjoy greater freedom to manage your working day.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with citizens to ensure they receive their council tax bill promptly and in accordance with guidelines and legislation.
  • Gather necessary evidence for new applications and changes in circumstances and process it accurately.
  • Maintain excellent communication with citizens through phone, email, text, and occasional face‑to‑face interactions.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using IT systems and producing letters.
  • A strong commitment to delivering high‑quality customer care.
  • Ability to work in a performance‑oriented environment, meeting targets and deadlines.

Rewards

Starting salary £29,064 per annum, rising incrementally to £31,022 following a successful probationary period. Experienced officers may be considered for a higher starting rate within these bands.
