Assistant Accountant – Avonmouth

We have a not‑to‑miss opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to join a diversified business group focused on commercial vehicles, logistics, leasing, finance, fleet support, business services, and strategic investment.

Working from the head office in Avonmouth and reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you will play an important role in the central finance hub, handling accounts for two subsidiary companies – a logistics solutions company and a commercial vehicle dealer group. You will work across a wide range of tasks, from reconciliations to credit control, helping maintain high standards of accuracy and service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily bank postings, purchase ledger and accounts reconciliations.
  • Payroll submissions.
  • Preparation of management accounts, month‑end reconciliations and management reports.
  • Coordinating warranty processes and customer account activity.
  • Supporting credit control and reporting performance to management.
  • Processing monthly lease and rental invoices.
  • Assisting the Financial Controller with finance projects and reporting improvements.
  • General administrative duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum GCSE Grade C/4 in Maths and English.
  • A Level or similar accountancy qualification desirable, but non‑essential.
  • Experience in a finance or accounts environment.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with Xero accounting software is desirable, but non‑essential, provided you have experience with similar accounting software.
  • Organised, proactive, and able to manage workloads independently.
  • Confident, resilient, and a team player with strong communication skills.

  • Salary: £35,000‑38,000 per annum, pending experience.
  • Hours: 40 hours per week; Monday to Friday with an 8‑hour day between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm.
