Liquid Personnel is recruiting a Children’s Social Worker to join its client’s Children’s Permanence & Throughcare team, based in Edinburgh & Borders Region.

This role seeks an experienced Social Worker to support care‑experienced children across the Edinburgh and Borders area. You will focus on long‑term permanence, ensuring children unable to return home find stability through kinship, fostering, or adoption, guided by The Promise and centred on children’s rights, voices, and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

In this position, you will manage a specialized caseload of children and young people looked after in permanent placements. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Permanence Assessments: Completing high-quality Form E and Form F assessments to secure stable, lifelong homes.
  • Legal Navigation: Navigating the Children’s Hearing System and providing expert evidence in Sheriff Court for Permanence Orders and Adoption.
  • Life Story Work: Helping children understand their history and identity through creative, trauma‑informed direct work.
  • Placement Support: Providing robust support to kinship carers and foster families to maintain placement stability and prevent breakdown.

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role you must have.

  • Registration: Current registration with the SSSC (Scottish Social Services Council) is mandatory.
  • Experience: Significant experience in a statutory Children and Families setting, with a strong grasp of permanence and adoption legislation in Scotland.
  • Knowledge: Expert knowledge of the Children (Scotland) Act 1995 and the Adoption and Children (Scotland) Act 2007.
  • Transport: A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential due to the geographical spread of the region.
