Opportunities have arisen in the Medical Record Departments at University Hospital Bristol and Weston NHS Trust. We are currently looking to recruit staff to work in both Bristol and Weston, so please indicate which site you are interested in.

We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our busy medical records department. The hours of work are Monday to Friday between 0700 and 1700, and negotiable with the successful applicant.

This role is not entirely desk‑based and is quite physical, requiring you to be adaptable as the position involves various physically demanding tasks including handling large volumes of patient medical records and retrieving and delivering patient case notes across the Trust.

Previous clerical experience and knowledge of filing systems is not essential as full training of the system will be given.

Applications should detail how you are an organised team player who can also work independently. This role requires you to self‑manage in a team environment and meet daily deadlines.

This is a demanding and physical but rewarding role offering a vital service to the Trust.

Interviews will be held on 16 July.

Main duties of the job

Retrieve case notes stored in the library or other locations within the hospital or trust. Collate, organise, scan and quality‑check case notes in readiness for future outpatient attendances and inpatient stays. Ensure the images become part of the patient’s Electronic Patient Record.

  • Proven team worker
  • Knowledge of bespoke computer systems
  • Basic keyboard skills
  • Knowledge of filing systems
  • Working in a busy environment

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service skills for both internal and external stakeholders
  • Computer literate and excellent keyboard skills
  • Ability to communicate throughout the Trust using varied media such as telephone, email and face‑to‑face

Qualifications and Training

  • Good standard of general education with particular strengths in English Language
