We are looking for Social Work Assistants to join the Children in Care Teams – to support Social Workers who safeguard and promote the welfare of the most vulnerable children and young people in the city through the delivery of high quality service. You will have a variety of work in this role such as supporting young people to keep in touch with their families, working closely with children and young people to undertake direct work and build trusting relationships, and working closely with other agencies working with families you are supporting.

Birmingham Children’s Trust Leadership team comprises of six Executive Directors who are responsible for leading and managing the Trust to be an autonomous and high performing organisation.
This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham so you must reside within a suitable commutable distance around Birmingham and have the correct right-to-work documents to work in the UK. We do not support those who require sponsorship.

Essential requirements
- Experience working with children, young people, and/or their families.
- Experience of working collaboratively with partner agencies and multi‑agency professionals to achieve positive outcomes.
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people, with a child‑centred approach and commitment to improving their wellbeing.
- A full UK driving licence, access to your own vehicle, and willingness to obtain business use insurance upon appointment.
Desirable requirements
- Experience of working professionally with individuals and families facing challenging personal circumstances, demonstrating empathy, resilience, and professionalism.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of audiences through verbal, written, and other forms of communication.
