Job Summary

Social Worker – Full time, on site at Brunton House, Cowdenbeath. Salary: FC8 (£43,437.09 – £47,604.34) with a 36‑hour work week, permanent contract.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake risk assessments and liaise with police and other social work colleagues.
  • Prepare Justice Social Work Reports (JSWRs) for court and manage release licences and Supervised Release Orders.
  • Prepare reports for the Parole Board, Scottish Courts Service, MAPPA, Scottish Government and Scottish Prisons Service.
  • Develop and implement risk assessment and management plans in line with service policy.
  • Supervise individuals convicted of sexual offences and others who pose a high risk to the community.
  • Ensure supervision complies with National Throughcare Guidance for Justice Social Work Services.
  • Apply best‑practice principles to individual risk management and supervision action plans addressing offending behaviour.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification.
  • Registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
  • Experience as a qualified social worker with knowledge of Justice Social Work.
  • Understanding of National Outcomes and Standards.
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary setting and act as a case manager.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of social work values.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Fife and beyond as required.
  • Completion of Post‑Registration Training and Learning CPL over the first registration period.

Additional Requirements

  • Access to the Multi‑Agency Public Protection System (MAPPS) – must undergo Non‑Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV) at Level2 or higher, with ongoing review in line with Home Office standards.
  • Register with the SSSC within 3 months of appointment.
