Vacancy
We are looking for a full‑time, permanent Youth Mentor to work with our care leavers team in Northampton, NN1. The role provides supported accommodation services for young people aged between 17 and 21.
Hours Of Work
- 40 hours per week
- 8‑hour shifts operate between 8 am and 8 pm – Monday to Saturday (examples: 8 am – 4 pm, 9 am – 5 pm, 12 pm – 8 pm)
The Role
- Ensure protection and safeguard the wellbeing of care leavers in our care.
- Demonstrate to the care leavers the value of education, care and development to achieve better outcomes.
- Challenge care leavers to help them avoid becoming without employment, education and training, liaising with independent and third‑sector providers.
- Work with care leavers on resilience, self‑esteem and confidence building.
- Build and create mutual trust and respect with care leavers to facilitate appropriate responses to advice.
- Attend placement meetings and induct care leavers into the provision.
- Analyse behaviour and encourage positive change, supporting participation in a structured routine through individual and group sessions.
- Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation, regulatory and inspection framework requirements.
- Provide basic advice on managing finances and everyday life skills to support transition to adulthood.
- Maintain timely and accurate records of work undertaken with care leavers, ensuring records are clear to other professionals.
- Work with the Service support team to ensure building and flats are maintained to a high standard.
