Job Purpose
The Advanced Social Worker will provide professional leadership and supervision/appraisal of staff, working in partnership with the manager, staff and others to contribute to an effective and efficient service. The role supports the Team Manager on day‑to‑day operational issues, provides a lead social work role in the team, supports the development of evidence‑based practice, and co‑works complex cases with less experienced workers to ensure quality, consistency and professional development.
Leadership and Supervision
- Provide professional supervision and guidance on cases and professional matters to unqualified or alternatively qualified staff, students and social workers.
- Provide on‑job training, coaching and mentoring of all Social Care workers within the team, including direct observations of practice as required by service and national standards.
- Co‑work and coach less experienced social workers on cases so they can benefit from greater experience and expertise.
- Contribute to operational developments within Devon’s Social Care and partners.
Day to Day Operations
- Provide oversight and guide Team Managers in the allocation of cases and workloads.
- Resolve service delivery issues within the service area.
- Ensure case work is appropriately planned, critically evaluated and reviewed.
