Police Call Handler

As a Police Call Handler you will be the first voice our communities hear when they call for help and assistance.

You do not need previous experience – we will provide all required training and support. You should have common sense, remain calm under pressure, show resilience, pay attention to detail, communicate effectively, and be comfortable using IT systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle a wide variety of calls, from non‑urgent 101 enquiries to distressing 999 emergencies and digital contacts via live chat.
  • Gather and assess information from callers and make key decisions.
  • Maintain composure and professionalism, even when receiving abusive communication.

Qualifications

  • Common sense and high levels of resilience.
  • Calm head under pressure.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and IT skills.

Training & Development

Your successful application will include a six‑week full‑time training course at Kidlington, after which you will receive a nationally recognised Level 3 Certificate in Emergency Service Contact Handling.

Successful candidates who are 18 years old on starting date and do not hold English and Math GCSEs (Grade A‑C / 9‑4 or equivalent) will be offered Functional Skills training.

All new staff receive structured on‑ and off‑the‑job training through a comprehensive apprenticeship programme.
