Responsibilities

  • Represent the council in all matters relating to commercial contracts, property, planning and highways.
  • Conduct research and draft legal documents and advice.
  • Communicate complex legal concepts clearly, in writing and in person.
  • Manage multiple cases, prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines.
  • Support the council in proceedings, ensuring policies remain legally sound.
  • Handle road traffic orders, highways agreements, planning agreements, property cases and related administrative/public law advice.

Qualifications

  • Degree, preferably in Law, and/or experience in a legal setting.
  • Ability to support several cases simultaneously with competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Technical knowledge of law.
