The Opportunity
By supporting students in the effective use of assistive technologies and specialist equipment, this role directly empowers individuals to overcome barriers and fully engage with their academic programmes. It offers the chance to develop and create accessible learning resources that benefit a diverse range of learners across all Derby College sites, enhancing students’ independence, confidence and contributing to a more inclusive learning environment.
About You
You will bring an understanding of how to adapt materials into accessible formats and demonstrate familiarity with specialist equipment and assistive technologies that enhance student engagement. Confidence in using key digital tools such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook will enable you to create and manage accessible resources effectively. A sound awareness of the Equality Act 2010, SEND reforms, and Education, Health and Care Plans reflects your commitment to inclusive practice, alongside your understanding of current approaches to supporting students with specific learning difficulties and disabilities. With experience working directly with students and an ability to apply varied assessment methods, you will be well‑equipped to meet individual needs.
