Your Role and What You’ll Be Doing
The Court of Protection is the judicial body responsible for making decisions relating to the management of finances and other affairs of those individuals who lack the mental capacity to do so themselves. It is a leading area for solicitors, and we specialise in all matters relating to the Court of Protection.
You will act as the first point of contact for all queries received into the team, ensuring they are directed and escalated appropriately. This role liaises with internal stakeholders and clients to provide advice and respond to time‑sensitive, emotive queries. It helps protect and enhance client care and allows case handlers to service deputyship work and maintain relationships with families and external parties.
Responsibilities
Supporting fee earners with their caseloads, liaising with core stakeholders including case managers and other fee earners across the business, taking instructions from clients and assisting with legal advice (including obtaining evidence where appropriate), achieving time recording and fee income targets to ensure profitability, attending and contributing to team/practice‑area meetings and complying with directions to meet team objectives, and keeping up to date with changes in relevant law and practice through training.
About You
As our ideal candidate, you’ll have:
- Demonstrable paralegal/legal assistant experience in Court of Protection (ideally across Property and Affairs) – mandatory.
- A law degree.
- Genuine passion and enthusiasm for Court of Protection work.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- The ability to work well both as a team member and independently.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- The ability to be sensitive and sympathetic whilst understanding our clients’ needs.
