Starting Point is Derbyshire’s leading front‑door service. We are looking for a dedicated Community Care Worker to join our dynamic team and help make a positive impact on the lives of children and families.
Job Summary
As a Community Care Worker (Referral Co‑ordinator) you will assess requests for intervention, determine appropriate support, and work within Derbyshire’s Stronger Families Safer Children model.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and triage referral information in line with the Stronger Families Safer Children model and the Derby and Derbyshire Safeguarding Children’s Board Threshold document.
- Gather information from agencies and talk with Parental Responsibility holders about the child or young person.
- Provide advice, guidance and signposting to universal/community services and liaise with partner agencies.
- Make threshold decisions together with Managers, Practice Supervisors and Social Workers, determining outcomes such as no further action, referral to the Early Help Team or Social Care.
- Ensure work is completed within local timescales and support a team that includes the Initial Response Team, Child Protection/Level 4 team and Child in Need/Early Help level 3 team.
- Participate in further training and development to maintain current practice.
Qualifications & Skills
- Excellent telephone communication skills (no direct face‑to‑face contact with service users).
- Good IT skills and working knowledge of Mosaic.
- Ability to work confidently in a fast‑paced environment and with effective teamwork.
Working Conditions
Office‑based service with rota coverage of all areas of work.
