Rota Coordinator

Responsibilities
- Full‑time post based at NHNN supporting medical and administration staffing provision within Neuroanaesthesia, Neurocritical care, and Operating Theatres departments.
- Managing and supporting Theatre administrators and junior doctor rota management.
- Onsite post within the Operating Theatre Suite, observing service users arriving for and leaving surgery.
Knowledge and Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience of administrative procedures within healthcare.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of employment law and NHS jobs functionality.
- Understanding of recent developments within the NHS and how these affect medical staffing.
Experience
- NHS experience; managing a busy administrative workload with conflicting priorities.
- Using initiative to solve problems.
- Experience working in a clinical department and processing online rota systems, including changes and upgrades; building, monitoring and administering all doctor rotas.
- Relevant experience involving the improvement of admin processes.
- Effective communication of issues to senior staff and others.
- Writing reports.
Skills and Abilities
- Analytical problem‑solving approach to identify problems and develop and implement solutions.
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (basic database manipulation, collating simple datasets, presenting them logically).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and minute taking.
- Experience with a range of databases and software, including hospital systems.
- Leading on service improvement initiatives in the local environment.
- Implementing improvements from analysis of local audits.
- Good knowledge of ESR.

- Communicating complex, sensitive, or contentious information accurately and effectively at all levels of the organisation, verbally and in writing.
- Professional and sensitive dealing with patients, staff, and the public face‑to‑face and on the phone.
- Persuading, motivating, negotiating to gain cooperation.

Infection Prevention and Control
- Familiar with Trust policies and guidance on infection prevention and control.
- Completing all required training and education (e‑learning and face‑to‑face) on infection prevention and control.
- Including infection prevention and control as part of continuous professional development and annual appraisal.
- Taking personal responsibility to embed effective prevention and control of healthcare‑associated infections into daily practice and applying it consistently.
Specific Requirements
- Postholder must be fit to perform full duties of the post through occupational health, with any reasonable aids.
