About the Role
Connect2Hackney are recruiting for an experienced Assistant Team Manager to join a high–performing Children and Families Service in Hackney. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practitioner looking to step into a leadership–focused role, supporting team delivery while maintaining a reduced caseload.
Key role in delivering a high‑quality statutory social work service, ensuring children and families receive timely and effective interventions to safeguard and promote positive outcomes. This role sits between Senior Practitioner and Team Manager level, offering both hands‑on casework and leadership responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a reduced caseload of complex children and families
- Undertake assessments, planning and intervention in line with statutory guidance
- Support and guide less experienced social workers, including ASYE
- Assist the Team Manager in the day‑to‑day running of the team and allocation of work
- Provide supervision, coaching and professional development to team members
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure positive outcomes for children and families
- Deputise for the Team Manager where required
Qualifications
- Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
- Significant experience in a Children & Families statutory setting
- Strong experience managing complex safeguarding and risk cases
- Confident in supporting, mentoring or supervising staff
- Strong understanding of systemic, trauma‑informed and anti‑racist practice
- Excellent assessment, report writing and communication skills
