This is an exciting opportunity to join our Estates team and build a rewarding career in electrical compliance, facilities maintenance, and infrastructure support. You’ll play a vital role in helping to maintain a safe, compliant, and operational estate that supports critical defence activities. Full training and development will be provided, including funding towards the City & Guilds 2377 Portable Appliance Testing qualification, providing a clear pathway for career growth and salary progression. The starting salary for this role is £29,658, increasing to £34,419 upon successful completion of the qualification.
The role
As a Multi‑Skilled Operative Electrical Compliance, you’ll provide multi‑skilled support across estate maintenance and compliance activities, helping to ensure buildings, systems, and equipment remain safe, operational, and compliant. This is a hands‑on role offering exposure to a wide variety of maintenance disciplines while developing valuable technical skills within a supportive environment.
Day‑to‑day responsibilities
- Carrying out portable appliance testing (PAT) and residual current device (RCD) testing across the estate.
- Conducting fire alarm and emergency lighting inspections and testing activities.
- Supporting tradespeople with planned maintenance, repairs, and defect rectification work.
- Assisting in identifying infrastructure, equipment, and system defects to maintain operational availability.
- Working safely in accordance with health and safety legislation, Safe Systems of Work, and company procedures.
This role is 36 hours per week, based at HM Naval Base Clyde.
Essential experience
- Experience supporting planned preventative maintenance activities.
- Experience identifying and helping resolve equipment, infrastructure, or system defects.
- Experience working within a facilities, estates, maintenance, engineering, or operational environment.
- Understanding of safe working practices and health and safety requirements.
- Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Demonstrable aptitude for maintenance, compliance, or estates‑related activities.
- Knowledge of fire alarm systems.
- Knowledge of emergency lighting systems.Understanding of statutory compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of COSHH, risk assessments, and Safe Systems of Work.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this role.
