Summary

The Pastoral Team provides essential support to all pupils, dealing with behaviour, safety, well‑being, mental health, attendance, friendship disagreements and home issues. The role is challenging, requiring resilience, flexibility, creativity and an instinctive approach to meet pupils’ needs. Good communication skills are crucial in liaising with students, staff, parents/guardians and professionals. The successful candidate will demonstrate effective behaviour‑management strategies, work independently while following policies, and be confident in team teaching and strong in de‑escalation strategies.

Specifics

This is a part‑time, term‑time position. Salary quoted is full‑time equivalent; pay will be pro‑rata. An online search will be carried out as part of due diligence in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025.

Essential Qualifications

  • NVQ level 2 or above qualification appropriate to the post (or equivalent)
  • Level 2 or equivalent qualification in English/Literacy and Mathematics/Numeracy

Essential Experience

  • Experience of supporting pupils with challenging behaviour
  • Experience of supporting pupils with SEND
  • Experience working in a Pastoral role

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working with or caring for children of relevant age
  • Experience working in a relevant classroom/service environment
  • Experience of administrative work
