Our roles are either designated ‘site‑based’ or ‘home‑based’. ‘Site‑based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home‑based’ roles are based at home four days a week. Managers designate the category based on the needs of the service.
Job Introduction
Community Learning MK is recruiting dedicated tutors in Business, IT and Health and Social Care to deliver courses that help adults and young people aged 16 and above build skills, gain qualifications and move forward in their lives.
You’ll be part of Milton Keynes City Council’s Community Learning service, supporting inclusive learning that responds to local need and improves life chances. This is a rewarding role where your teaching directly supports residents to progress, achieve qualifications and reach their personal goals.
The role involves working in a regulated activity with adults and young people aged 16 and above. We’re expanding our team and recruiting one part‑time and two full‑time tutors across Business, IT and Health and Social Care – all are fixed‑term for 12 months.
- Health and Social Care – Part‑time (18.5 hours per week): £18,640 per year (pro rata)
- Business Tutor – Full‑time: £37,280 – £41,771 per year
- IT Tutor – Full‑time: £37,280 – £41,771 per year
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high quality teaching and learning in designated curriculum areas using approved planning and assessment tools.
- Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners within the community.
- Work closely with Curriculum Managers and colleagues to support quality assurance and continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate learner records to meet funding and inspection requirements.
- Support and mentor new or developing tutors as part of a collaborative team approach.
- Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity, health and safety and online safety in all aspects of delivery.
Ideal Candidate
- A qualified tutor with degree level education or equivalent significant further education or adult teaching experience.
- A recognised teaching qualification at level three or four, or a commitment to work towards one.
- An understanding of inspection and quality requirements and a commitment to reflective practice.
- The ability to work sensitively and effectively with adult learners.
- Confidence teaching both in person and online, adapting to different learning styles.
- Someone who lives our values and works in a dedicated, respectful and collaborative way.
