Location: Bromborough, Wirral

Contract type: One‑year fixed term contract

Work week: 42 hours (predominantly day‑based with 36–42 night shifts per year to cover holidays)

Salary: Circa £58,000 (inclusive of shift allowances)

Position summary

We have a new opportunity for an experienced, mechanically biased engineer to join our maintenance team in Bromborough. Reporting into the System Engineer, the main purpose of the role will be to provide a safe, high‑quality, cost‑effective maintenance service to site assets including preventative, predictive and breakdown maintenance; to enhance people’s and product’s safety, product quality, protection of the environment and Operations performance.

A day in the life of a Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Your day‑to‑day responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

  • Root‑cause analysis of technical problems
  • Providing both planned and reactive maintenance solutions across plant
  • Maintenance of packaging and process equipment
  • Generation, completion and return of work orders
  • Participation and contribution to continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications / What will make you successful

  • Completed an engineering apprenticeship or hold a minimum ONC/HNC in Mechanical Engineering with demonstrated experience
  • Mechanically biased with competency in other engineering disciplines a bonus but bias towards mechanical is essential
  • Good working knowledge of utilities (e.g. gas, water, steam)
  • Working knowledge of H&S, environmental and legislative requirements
  • Awareness to maximise effectiveness of relationship between Engineering and Production, fostering teamwork
  • Strong problem‑solving and analysis skills; committed to root‑cause analysis and proactive continuous improvement initiatives
