An established and growing freight forwarding company based in the Heathrow area is seeking an experienced Ocean Freight Coordinator to join its operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for a freight professional with strong Ocean Import and Export experience to work within a fast-paced international logistics environment.

The Role

As an Ocean Freight Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing Sea Freight shipments from booking through to final delivery, ensuring a high level of customer service and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing worldwide Ocean Import and Export shipments from start to finish
  • Arranging FCL and LCL shipments across global trade lanes
  • Liaising with shipping lines, overseas agents, hauliers, and customers
  • Raising and processing job files and shipment documentation
  • Coordinating customs clearance requirements and ensuring compliance
  • Monitoring shipments and providing proactive updates to customers
  • Handling freight quotations and rate requests
  • Negotiating rates and services with carriers and suppliers
  • Resolving operational issues and ensuring service excellence
  • Processing invoices and ensuring accurate job costing
  • Maintaining compliance with company procedures and industry regulations

Requirements

  • Previous experience in Ocean Freight Operations is essential
  • Strong knowledge of Ocean Imports and Exports
  • Experience managing shipments from start to finish
  • Knowledge of FCL and LCL movements
  • Customs clearance experience would be highly advantageous
  • Experience using freight forwarding software such as CargoWise, Sequoia, Multifreight, Destin8, or similar
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously
  • Ability to work effectively within a busy freight forwarding environment
