Overview

As a Peer Support Worker in our Crisis Recovery Service, you will collaborate with Crisis Recovery Workers and other team members to provide practical and emotional support to people who use the service. This support will stem from your personal experience with mental health challenges or caring for someone facing similar difficulties.

Responsibilities

  • Support people who use the service throughout their journey to reach personal objectives.
  • Facilitate weekly Peer Support Group to aid individuals in wellness recovery.
  • Support existing workshops and groups currently active within the services.
  • Provide responsive support via face‑to‑face, virtual and telephone interactions.
  • Assist people in accessing statutory support, including psychological interventions.
  • Develop and maintain a solid understanding of community resources and partner organisations to signpost clients and promote social inclusion.
  • Instill a sense of hope and well‑being while empowering people to regain control over their lives.
  • Help individuals engage with and establish connections within their local communities.
  • Aid people in finding satisfaction across various aspects of their lives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Lived experience or knowledge of community mental health services.
  • Strong communication skills with a supportive, constructive and non‑judgmental approach.
  • Active listening and capacity to support individuals in self‑management, enabling them to take care of themselves and regain control over their lives.
  • Ability to prioritize placing the person at the centre of support and collaborate to achieve their goals.
