An opportunity has become available for enthusiastic, self‑motivated individuals to join the Facilities Services team at Velindre Cancer Service, supporting the delivery of high‑quality frontline services to patients, staff and visitors.

This is a Bank (as and when required) role, offering flexibility to work shifts that fit around your availability while contributing to essential services within a specialist cancer centre.

As a Facilities Services Assistant, you will play a key role in maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming environment across Velindre Cancer Service. Duties may include portering, waste management, movement of goods, and supporting departments with essential logistical services.

Working as part of a dedicated team, you will contribute to ensuring services run smoothly and efficiently, helping to deliver the best possible experience for patients, visitors and colleagues.

Main duties of the job

The role of the Facilities Assistant is a combined role delivering Catering & Housekeeping Services within the Cancer Centre working in line with national cleaning standards and food safety legislation.

The successful candidates will be expected to undertake all the main tasks in line with the Job Description working within the values and behaviours of Velindre University Trust.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification

Knowledge

  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety, COSHH, and HACCP food safety management systems
  • NVQ level 2 in food & drink

Experience

  • Previous catering or Cleaning experience, especially in a care environment ward & dining room/coffee shop

Qualifications

  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2 NVQ Level 2 in cleaning. Willing to work towards the All Wales Facilities Apprenticeship Qualification
  • NVQ Level 2 food & drink
