The Role

The purpose of the role as a Housing Support Worker is to provide a support service to our service users. You will carry out regular support sessions with service users, to ensure that their individual needs are being met. You will work to empower service users, actively engaging them with the community and helping them to support each other, to develop resilience, to live independently and to be an asset to the community.

You will ensure the efficient keeping of appropriate records including case notes, support plans, financial and administrative records. You will also ensure that service users access their full support entitlements, ensuring that housing benefit claims are submitted in a timely manner, and arrears and bad debts actively pursued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out regular support sessions with service users to meet individual needs.
  • Empower service users and facilitate community engagement.
  • Maintain accurate case notes, support plans, financial and administrative records.
  • Submit housing benefit claims in a timely manner.
  • Pursue arrears and bad debts.
  • Develop service user, volunteer and community involvement, and facilitate group activities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience working in a support role and ability to assess needs to plan and deliver effective, stimulating and dynamic support.
  • Experience providing housing support (desirable: 1 year).
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal – including record keeping, report writing, IT and social media platforms.
  • Demonstrable organisational skills, manage workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to manage risk appropriately and ensure procedures are followed.
