1:1 Support Assistant – Primary School

Friendly and inclusive primary schools in the Hyde area are seeking dedicated 1:1 Support Assistants to join their teams. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils within a mainstream setting who require tailored learning approaches and additional emotional and behavioural support.
About the Role
You will be working closely with children who are currently working below age‑related expectations and accessing learning from a different key stage. The pupils benefit from:
- Short, structured learning activities
- Continuous provision‑based learning

- Consistent support to manage behaviour and engagement

Key Responsibilities
- Build positive, trusting relationships to support engagement and behaviour
- Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals
- Support social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs
- Deliver and manage sensory breaks throughout the day
- Adapt learning activities to suit individual needs and targets
- Encourage participation in continuous provision‑based learning
What We’re Looking For
- Experience supporting children with SEND (1:1 or small groups)
- TeamTeach training (or equivalent behaviour management training)
- Understanding of EYFS and continuous provision approaches
- A calm, patient and consistent approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Resilience and flexibility in a dynamic classroom environment
- A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
