SEND Provision Coordinator

Location: Based at either Apsley or Stevenage, with travel across areas within Hertfordshire.

Hours and Pay: 37 per week – £19.81 per hour.

Contract: Temp – Until beginning of October 2026.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the named coordinator for children and young people educated outside traditional establishments.
• Ensure the provision in the Education and Health Care (EHC) plan is appropriate to the type of setting.
• Brokering and securing appropriate packages of support.
• Pull together multi‑agency teams to manage complex arrangements when required.
• Support families and schools to understand statutory SEND processes and local offer of support.
• Attend multi‑agency meetings to discuss needs and provision.
• Write or amend EHC plans with a focus on commissioning and monitoring appropriate provision.

Qualifications

• Educated to A Level or equivalent as a minimum.
• Excellent knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and the Children and Families Act 2014.
• Excellent communication skills.
• High level of literacy to support good case recording and quality EHC plans.

Desirable Skills

• Experience brokering packages of support, working with schools to deliver SEND provision, or coproduction with parents.
• Experience commissioning providers, negotiating with professionals across various disciplines, implementing alternative support packages, and working on multiple priorities at once.
• Resilience, drive for ambitious outcomes, and ability to champion local solutions.
