Overview

The Assistant Commercial Manager is responsible for end‑to‑end procurement and commercial administration of contracts supporting Sizewell C’s construction phase. They identify third‑party services, develop procurement strategies, and manage contract delivery to achieve project objectives.

Benefits

  • Salary: £47,000 depending on experience
  • Bonus: 5% annual incentive
  • Pension: Up to 7.5% employee / 15% employer contribution

Role Responsibilities

The Assistant Commercial Manager is the primary commercial contact for assigned contracts and works closely with stakeholders across the SZC Project.

  • Manage the procurement process during the pre‑award phase.
  • Provide commercial management during the execution phase.
  • Deliver contracts according to SZC governance and business objectives.
  • Support professional development of self and team.
  • Prepare ITT/RFQ packages, evaluate and negotiate tenders.
  • Maintain commercial files, interface with Legal on contractual conditions.
  • Implement progress and dashboard reporting.
  • Participate in contract kick‑off, commercial reviews, performance management.
  • Ensure contractual deliverables are met.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Assist Procurement and Supply Chain Manager in contract creation and pre‑award activities.
  • Assess scope, duration and value against budget.
  • Identify and capture lessons learned from EDF and HPC to improve procurement strategy.
  • Ensure governance approvals for contract award are obtained in a timely manner.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven procurement experience with demonstrable responsibility.
  • Member or student member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS).
  • Stakeholder management skills, advising senior management.
  • Experience developing supply chain procurement strategies for projects.
  • Strong understanding of contract and commercial law.
  • Bid process management: supplier sourcing, documentation, evaluation, tender award for high‑value multi‑discipline contracts.
  • Negotiation skills for high‑value contracts and complex commercial negotiations.
  • Cross‑functional team collaboration.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
