Production Operator
Location: Manchester, UKStart date: ASAPContract: 12 months renewableSchedule: Monday – Friday 7:00‑15:00 initially, eventually shift work following the Midel Shift pattern (May–September: 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off, 2 days, 2 nights, 6 off; October–April: same pattern)
This position is based in a chemical and manufacturing setting and involves working with automated plant systems, production procedures, and a structured shift pattern over time.
The Production Operator will contribute to the safe and efficient running of the production process by operating automated plant, supporting material movement, and maintaining high standards across the work area.
The Production Operator will also support clear communication across departments and follow established procedures throughout daily activity.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate an automated production plant in accordance with company procedure.
- Load and unload materials using FLT.
- Load and unload road tankers.
- Liaise with various departments using telephone, face‑to‑face communication, and email.
- Maintain housekeeping standards and follow all Health/Safety procedures.
- Adhere to the Quality Management system and operate automated plant systems using SCADA System.
- Follow a manufacturing process using SOPs.
- Work on a 12-hour shift pattern following the shift plan in place.
Required Experience& Qualifications
- 5+ years of chemical & manufacturing experience.
- Ability to understand and operate automated plant using SCADA systems.
- Computer literate.
- Follow written procedures.
- Numerate, HSE awareness, problem solving.
- Flexible approach to working practices.
- Reliable, customer focused and excellent communication skills.
- Must be flexible towards working hours as 12‑hour shifts and weekend working are required.
Mandatory Certifications
- FLT License.
- C&Q or NVQ level2 in process operations.
- IOSH desirable.
Not Suitable Backgrounds
Inability to work weekends or nights.
