Leader Education are currently recruiting Behaviour Support Assistants to support students in schools across Greater Manchester. This role is ideal for candidates with experience supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs or behavioural challenges. As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will help students develop positive behaviour strategies and remain engaged with their learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students who may display challenging behaviour or emotional difficulties.
- Implement behaviour strategies designed to support self‑regulation and emotional wellbeing.
- Provide 1:1 support and mentoring for pupils who require additional guidance.
- Help create a calm and structured learning environment.
- Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams and the SENCO.
- Track behaviour progress and provide feedback to school staff.
Requirements
- Experience supporting young people with SEMH needs or behavioural challenges.
- Understanding of behaviour management strategies in schools.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Resilient, patient and positive attitude.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Enhanced Child or Child and Adults DBS (mandatory; can be applied through Leader Education).
