Grounds Maintenance Operative

Position Overview

You must have a full UK driving licence as a company vehicle will be supplied.

Working both on your own and in a team across an organisation’s contracts, offices, properties and sites where you will be driving a van and be required to be manually hands on. You will be covering communal external ground maintenance in Slough.

Key Duties

• Responsible for the upkeep of external communal areas, grass, shrubs and hedges.
• May undertake soft landscaping/minor tree work.
• Grass and hedge cutting, border maintenance, clearing leaves, spraying, litter picking, using hand tools and powered horticultural machinery to maintain sites to a high standard.
• Report to management with relevant site hazard information, operate vehicles, machinery and equipment in accordance with health and safety procedures, and undertake additional training as required.

Requirements

• UK driving licence.
• Awareness of using a large wheelbase van and ideally towing licence/experience (desirable).
• Practical amenity horticultural knowledge & experience.
• PA1 and PA6 AW qualifications (desirable, but not essential).
• NPTC certification or equivalent (desirable, but not essential).
• Physically fit and able to lift and move materials.
• Good timekeeping.
• Outgoing customer service approach.
• Good communication skills.
• Adaptability.
• Operate a handheld PDA to log visits – training will be given.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Able to take direction and also work on own initiative.

Hours and Pay

• 40 hours per week.
• Hourly paid (PAYE + holiday pay).
