Role: School Support Worker (School Hours)
Location: Taunton & Surrounding Areas – Pay: £92.00 – £109.00 per day – Contract: Temporary / Long‑Term Opportunities Available – Hours: School Hours (Typically 8:30 am – 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday)
We are recruiting School Support Workers to support children and young people across a range of schools in Taunton and the surrounding areas. This is a fantastic opportunity for people with experience in care, support work, youth work, mentoring, coaching, or SEND who want to use their skills in an educational setting.
About the Role
As a School Support Worker, you will provide valuable support to students throughout the school day, helping them feel confident, included, and ready to learn. You may support pupils with additional needs, emotional regulation, behaviour, or learning challenges, working alongside teachers and school staff to create a positive and supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Providing 1:1 support for students who need additional help
- Supporting small group activities and interventions
- Helping pupils access learning and develop independence
- Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement
- Supporting students socially and emotionally
- Building trusting relationships with young people
- Working as part of a wider school team
Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for people who are caring, reliable, and passionate about supporting young people. Previous school experience is not essential – relevant experience can come from:
- Care or support work
- Youth work
- Residential childcare
- Volunteering
- Coaching or mentoring
- Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs
You’ll need patience, resilience, and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
