Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Reading for Traffic Management Operatives. The role involves setting up, maintaining, and removing temporary traffic management systems such as cones, signs, barriers, and traffic lights in accordance with relevant regulations and safety standards. Daily tasks include supporting roadworks and events, directing traffic when required, performing site risk assessments, and ensuring the safety of road users, pedestrians, and work crews. Operatives will liaise with supervisors, clients, and the public, providing clear information and responsive customer service on site. The position also requires accurate completion of job-related documentation, routine equipment checks, and adherence to company procedures and health and safety guidelines.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Traffic Management and Traffic Engineering skills, with an understanding of relevant standards and best practices.
- Candidates should possess solid Analytical Skills to assess risks, interpret plans, and make sound decisions in changing site conditions.
- Candidates should possess effective Communication skills to interact with colleagues, clients, and members of the public in a clear and professional manner.
- Candidates should possess excellent Customer Service abilities, maintaining a helpful and respectful approach in all on-site interactions.
- Relevant traffic management certifications (e.g., sector schemes), a valid UK driving licence, and experience working on highways or construction sites are highly beneficial.
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, handle physically demanding tasks, and follow health and safety procedures is essential.
