Goods Inwards Operator

The Goods Inwards Operator is responsible for ensuring timely unloading of vehicles and storing the items in the appropriate area while accurately entering them into the system. They also oversee the flow of goods and scrap materials around the site, ensuring proper storage, spreadsheets, and SAP transactions.

Main Responsibilities

  • Off loading vehicles at the relevant unloading door.
  • Ensure vehicles are unloaded in a timely manner.
  • Inspect arriving goods to confirm they are in good condition.
  • Check documentation to verify details and quantities are correct.
  • Maintain awareness of due lists to prepare for incoming deliveries.
  • Sign and file all documentation in good order.
  • Book deliveries into SAP using correct transactions.
  • Add all data accurately and ensure data integrity.
  • Use Kanban to move goods physically between required locations.
  • Move goods on SAP to maintain accurate movement records.
  • Apply FIFO rotation for all materials.
  • Perform cycle counting as per the rota issued by the Materials Manager.
  • Provide daily inventory checks and update the Materials Manager to order supplies.
  • Cover roles in the team during absence.
  • Control weighbridge tickets.
  • Manage waste documentation.
  • Perform month end stock activities.
  • Carry out ad-hoc activities as assigned by the departmental Manager.

Departmental Responsibilities

  • Health, Safety, and Environment: Ensure adherence to policies at all times.
  • Customer Service: Deliver a high level of service to internal customers, including planning, operations, and controlling.
  • Continuous Improvement: Continuously review processes to optimise the goods inwards department and reduce costs.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a Goods Inwards Department and using SAP.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to demanding deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Computer literate with working knowledge of MS Office applications and SAP for inventory management.
  • Can-do attitude with willingness to learn and embrace change.
