UPP is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our onsite team in Plymouth. The full‑time role reports to the Maintenance Manager and involves both planned and reactive maintenance tasks across our student accommodation portfolio. Salary up to £33,476.
Responsibilities
- Respond to and resolve reactive maintenance requests, focusing on plumbing and mechanical repairs.
- Complete planned preventive maintenance (PPM) activities in line with scheduled requirements.
- Conduct statutory compliance checks and testing, including PAT testing, fire alarm testing and fire door inspections.
- Maintain accurate maintenance and compliance records.
- Collaborate with specialist contractors and support the coordination of their activities on site.
- Identify and report health and safety concerns while promoting a safe working environment.
- Support colleagues across different trades and locations when required.
- Participate in an on‑call rota and be available to support key student arrival and departure periods.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a maintenance, facilities or building services environment.
- Organised, customer‑focused and pride in delivering high‑quality work.
- Plumbing NVQ Level2, BTEC or City & Guilds accredited qualification (6189, 6035, 6129) or equivalent.
- Current valid driving licence.
- Experience carrying out plumbing and mechanical maintenance repairs.
- Knowledge of planned preventive maintenance and statutory compliance requirements.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Flexible approach to work and willingness to support colleagues.
- Strong commitment to health and safety.
- Enthusiastic about working as part of a team and delivering a positive experience to students.
