Summary
We’re looking for a Service Assistant to join us at Scotney Castle, to help busy teams throughout our visitor operations.
Salary: £12.75 per hour
Contract Duration: Fixed term until 30th September 2026
Working Pattern: This is a zero‑hour contract, meaning we can’t guarantee a set number of hours each week. We aim to provide a consistent work pattern, but flexibility is required as schedules may change based on business needs. The role includes bank holidays, but does not require evening or split shifts. You will be asked to work on days when additional support is needed at Scotney, with weekend availability expected. Typical shifts run from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm.
What you’ll be doing
The core part of your job is to give vital and positive support to your colleagues, wherever you’re needed, with a focus on greeting and helping visitors. No two days will be the same. You can expect to meet many different people and gain experience in different visitor areas. You’ll get involved in all kinds of tasks, including greeting visitors on arrival, restocking shelves in the shop and clearing tables in the café, and most importantly, you’ll be talking to visitors, answering their questions and making sure they can find everything they need to enjoy their day.
