About the team/Department you will be joining:

The Print Department is a long-established in-house print facility within South Wales Police and is located within Police Headquarters, Bridgend. This position will provide an exciting opportunity for the right individual to join our friendly and dynamic in-house team.

About the role and your key responsibilities:

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Digital Print Operator with proven expertise within the digital print and large‑format print sector.

You will be responsible for the production of a wide range of high‑quality printed materials, operating both digital and large‑format printing equipment to meet the diverse requirements of South Wales Police. This includes the preparation, printing, finishing and installation/application of printed products while ensuring the highest standards of quality, accuracy and customer service.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Operating and maintaining SRA3 digital production presses and finishing devices.
  • Operating large‑format print and print‑and‑cut equipment, plotters, direct‑to‑object printers and finishing devices.
  • Producing a variety of printed materials including brochures, leaflets, reports, booklets, posters, banners, signage, exhibition graphics, vehicle graphics and promotional materials.
  • Preparing and checking artwork files for production.
  • Managing print workflows and production schedules to ensure work is completed efficiently and within agreed deadlines.
  • Monitoring print quality, colour consistency and carrying out routine quality control checks.
  • Performing routine operator maintenance, troubleshooting and minor fault diagnosis on digital and large‑format equipment to minimise downtime.
  • Undertaking a range of finishing processes including cutting, trimming, folding, creasing, laminating, mounting, binding, perforating and booklet making.
  • Applying graphics, signage and other printed materials to a variety of surfaces where required.
  • Maintaining stock levels of paper, substrates, inks, toners and consumables, and assisting with inventory management.
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety procedures, departmental standards and environmental best practice.

The successful candidate will possess extensive knowledge of digital and large‑format print production processes, strong technical and problem‑solving skills, and a keen eye for detail. You will be comfortable working in a busy production environment, managing multiple jobs simultaneously and delivering consistently high‑quality output. The role requires a proactive individual who can work independently, as well as collaboratively within a small team, to meet demanding production deadlines.

A current valid driving licence is essential to enable travel within the South Wales Police area and property portfolio.

The successful Candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to RV Vetting.
