Bank Facilities Assistant

We are looking to recruit staff to work in our Facilities Services in our Domestic, Portering and Catering departments at John Eastwood Hospice and Bracken House, Mansfield, including community sites. This will be a zero hour contract to cover all needs of our service.

To maintain a high quality patient and customer focused service within the Facilities areas delivering a high standard of cleanliness, infection prevention, provision of safe, serving patients nutritious food in line with food hygiene legislation, to be aware of associated health and safety issues and to participate in planned mandatory and professional training.

Main duties of the job

Full training will be given in all departments and uniform will be provided. Working hours will be between 6am – 6:30pm including some Bank holidays and weekends, over 7 days.

Job responsibilities

Facilities provides a wide range of non-clinical support services to patients, staff and visitors. The services provided include Cleaning, Catering, including serving patient food and Portering.

Please note that this post does not meet the pay or skill level required for a Skilled worker visa.

Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. This salary is below the minimum salary required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. In these circumstances the Trust would not, therefore, be able to sponsor for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. Qualifications

  • An understanding of cleanliness and good hygiene practices
  • Level 2 Food Safety Certificate or to work towards within the 12 months of employment (site specific)
  • Understanding of a small number of routine work procedures developed through on the job training / experience.
  • Recognised catering, cleaning or support services qualification

Skills

  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills
  • Ability to use own initiative to manage the requirements of the job
  • Flexible in managing own time and work duties
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team

Experience

  • Able to carry out instructions and duties as detailed in the job description
  • Experience or working within a catering, cleaning or portering environment Experience of working within healthcare environment which may include: a catering, cleaning or portering function.
  • Experience of working within a food safety management system (HACCP)

Training

  • Ability to undertake all mandatory training as required by the individual site
  • Ability to undertake any necessary skills and competency training required by the post
  • COSHH, Sharps and Manual Handling Procedures

Knowledge

  • Understanding of commitment to the Equality and Diversity principles
  • Basic knowledge of Health and Safety
  • An ability to demonstrate an understanding and commitment to Trust values
  • Knowledge and awareness of special diets and allergens
  • Basic understanding of Infection Control
  • Understanding of the responsibility relating to H&S at work and COSHH

  • Shift flexibility may be required from time to time, including weekend and Bank Holidays; requirement to attend mandatory and job specific training

  • A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010
