Salary: £538.55 – £570.00 per week

Hours: Monday to Friday | 8:30am – 3:30pm

Start Date: September 2026 (or sooner)

The Role

Milk Education are recruiting for a compassionate and dedicated Autism Support Assistant to work within a specialist provision in Middlesbrough and surrounding areas, supporting children and young people with Autism.

This rewarding role involves working closely with pupils who require additional support to access learning, develop social skills, regulate emotions and build confidence within a structured educational environment.

Whether your experience comes from education, care, youth work, support work, residential settings or similar backgrounds, we’d love to hear from you if you’re passionate about making a difference.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Autism
  • Support students with communication, social interaction and emotional regulation
  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs
  • Implement behaviour support strategies and personalised interventions
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENDCOs and wider school staff
  • Promote engagement, independence and confidence
  • Maintain a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults
  • A patient, resilient and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm in challenging situations
  • Passion for supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Understanding of Autism, SEND, ADHD or SEMH needs is desirable
  • Relevant qualifications are beneficial but not essential
