About the role
The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh (RIE) is a large teaching hospital with an established reputation for offering the best practice across a wide variety of specialist services.
We are seeking to recruit motivated Pharmacy Support Workers (PSW) to join our well‑established pharmacy team. Your role will include assisting in the preparation and distribution of medicines and stock management. Full training and ongoing support will be provided to help you develop the necessary skills.

About you
We are seeking enthusiastic and hardworking Pharmacy Support Workers to support the day‑to‑day running of the pharmacy service.
Essential qualifications and experience
- National 4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
- SCQF Level 6 units relevant to post within 12 months following probationary period.
- Completion of Healthcare Support Workers induction standards within 12 months following probationary period.
- Prior experience within a healthcare/pharmacy environment or stock management (beneficial but not essential).
- A diligent, reliable, and flexible approach to work.

- PVG Scheme membership/record required.
Other important information
As from 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will reduce from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
