Why we want you
One of the charity’s aims is to educate people on how to carry out effective CPR and use Public Access Defibrillators. As a Community CPR Advocate, you’ll empower others with the ability to perform CPR in emergencies, potentially saving lives. No prior teaching experience is needed—just a passion for helping others learn this essential skill and for making your community safer.
What you will be doing
- Discuss with groups how to recognise and react to a cardiac arrest.
- Demonstrate how to perform effective CPR.
- Show people how to use and access public defibrillators.
- Represent SCAS and the charity in the local community.
- Use a supplied PowerPoint presentation.
The skills you need
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Happy and confident (after training) in delivering teaching sessions to large groups.
- Confident to work independently or within a small team.
- Physically fit to carry out CPR on a manikin on the floor.
- Confident with IT and Microsoft Office programmes.
What’s in it for you
- Helping to provide people with essential life skills.
- Supporting your local community in essential education.
- High‑quality training.
- A charity‑branded T‑shirt.
- Out of pocket expenses in line with our policy.
Disclaimer
We will ask you to attend a CPR and defibrillator awareness refresher annually. We are looking for volunteers who can support us regularly throughout the year by attending a range of community‑based CPR awareness sessions. Please note this is not a first‑aid qualification.
Training will begin in September; there may be a short delay before you can start supporting us.
