About the Service
Monmouth Domiciliary Care commissioned by Monmouthshire council, offers consistent, person‑centred support to one young person with a disability, helping them build independence, manage daily routines, and feel confident in their home environment.
A bit about the role
As a Housing Support Worker, your support will be tailored entirely to their needs, goals, and personality.
We’re looking for someone who is patient, positive, and genuinely caring — to provide dedicated one to one support for the young person who is living in their own home. If you’re the kind of person who finds purpose in helping others grow, thrive, and feel secure, this role could be a perfect fit.
What you do could make a difference
- Providing one to one support within the young person’s home including personal care tasks such as hygiene routines, dressing, or mobility assistance
- Encouraging independence with daily living skills
- Some light cleaning duties around the home
- Supporting with routines, appointments, and community activities
- Helping maintain a safe, comfortable, and positive home environment
- Promoting confidence, wellbeing, and social inclusion
- Working collaboratively with family members and professionals
- Keeping clear, accurate notes to ensure consistent, high‑quality care
Let’s talk about you
- Level 3 qualification in Health and Social (or equivalent) or working towards
- Previous experience supporting children, young people, or adults with disabilities
- Experience working in domiciliary care, supported living, education, youth work, or a similar setting
- Experience supporting individuals with daily living skills (routines, organisation, community access)
- Experience following care plans, risk assessments, and safeguarding procedures
- An ability to build positive, trusting relationships with individuals who may need reassurance or structure
- Experience working as part of a multi‑agency team (desirable)
- Driving license – for the purposes of transporting the young person to and from the service for appointments
Why Action for Children?
Every child should have a loving home, food, warmth, the chance to grow and learn – the support to cope with life’s challenges. But too many children don’t. By bringing your passion and unique skills and experience, you’ll help us change that where it really matters.
We’ve been driven by love to take action for children for over 150 years, giving them the protection and practical help they need. A lot’s changed since 1869. But what children really need, hasn’t. So as long as children need us, we’ll be here.

Diversity, equality and inclusion
At Action for Children, we’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels respected, valued, and able to thrive. We know that racism and discrimination create barriers, and we’re taking active steps to challenge these inequalities in our organisation and in the communities we serve.
We strongly welcome applications from people who are Black, Asian, or from other racialised and ethnically marginalised communities, as well as disabled people, who are currently under‑represented in our workforce. We are committed to removing barriers in our recruitment processes and ensuring fair access to opportunities.
We also encourage applications from men, who are under‑represented in our Children’s Services roles. We recognise that people hold multiple identities, and we value the richness this brings to our team.
