Description

This role will require you to cover our sites in the East and East Anglia region to attend breakdowns and carry out preventative maintenance. A company van will be provided for travel.

You will be based at one of our sites in the East of England region with regular travel to other sites.

The role is 48 hours per week with overtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a preventative maintenance system and carry out planned maintenance activities to ensure our concrete plants operate safely and reliably.
  • Play a key hands‑on role in the planning and implementation of plant improvements.
  • Quickly fault‑find and respond to any unplanned plant shutdowns.
  • Assist the area management team in programming scheduled maintenance and repair aligned to production requirements and manage site defect logs.
  • Facilitate and coordinate the repair and maintenance of ready‑mix concrete plants.
  • Eliminate preventable plant breakdowns.
  • Ensure cost‑effective and timely ordering and supply of spares and critical equipment.
  • Undertake risk assessment and associated paperwork for relevant activities to ensure a suitable and effective safe system of work.
  • Liaise daily with management and plant operations team to ascertain repair and maintenance requirements that arise or need specific prioritisation.
  • Provide supervision of others and third parties assisting in the works being carried out.
  • Communicate effectively with production colleagues, often on the telephone, to understand issues and provide advice.
  • Be highly self‑motivated and flexible in a mobile role, travelling between sites with a company van.
  • Contribute to the company’s zero‑harm safety culture.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Good understanding of health, safety and environmental impacts of the role.
  • Experience and understanding of mechanical fitting and maintenance of equipment: conveyors, pumps, pipes, valves, filter systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, gearboxes, etc.
  • Welding and burning for fabrication and maintenance.
  • Use of pulling and lifting equipment.
  • Experience using workshop equipment.
  • Mechanical fault finding.
  • Competency in basic multi‑skilling.
  • Essential experience working on heavy plant, fixed and/or mobile approach.
  • Ability to remain composed under pressure.
