Job Description:

We are recruiting a Grounds Maintenance Operative to join us on a permanent basis. If you love the outdoors, whether its rain or shine, then this could be the role for you! You’ll carry out a wide range of grounds maintenance tasks using various equipment, including grass cutting, shrub bed works and site clearance works.

Location: Hillam Road, BD2 1QN

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a grounds maintenance service based on customer involvement, satisfaction and sustainability
  • Work as part of a team to maintain all Incommunities spaces to a high standard of appearance and safety
  • Carry out a wide range of grounds maintenance tasks including grass cutting, shrub bed works and site clearance works
  • Comfortable using heavy equipment and carrying this to and from the van

Qualifications

  • Basic grounds maintenance knowledge or the willingness to learn
  • Prior experience using tools such as mowers, strimmers, hedge trimmers and back‑pack blowers
  • Excellent team player with good communication skills
  • Self‑motivated, respectful, trustworthy and punctual
  • Practical experience in a horticultural or arboriculture role and/or qualification in this area
  • A full UK manual driving licence is essential
  • The ability to follow verbal and written instructions and complete relevant paperwork
  • At least 2 suitable references
  • The willingness to work outdoors in all weathers and on all ground terrain types
  • A general awareness of Health and Safety including safe site working practice
  • A good work ethic and customer service skills to interact with our customers who may on occasion approach the grounds team with queries
  • Right to Work in the UK – Visa Sponsorship is not available
  • A basic DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check will be required for the successful candidate as part of the pre‑employment process
