About the Role

We seek a flexible and enthusiastic LSA to support pupils across the secondary curriculum, from English and Maths to Science, PE, and beyond. You will be patient, proactive, and confident working both independently and as part of a team.

A key part of the role is to deliver targeted, evidence-based interventions that accelerate progress for vulnerable learners, including pupils with SEND, those eligible for Pupil Premium, and other disadvantaged groups. Working closely with teachers and the SENDCo, you will lead small-group interventions and focus sessions, adapting provision to maximise impact.

These roles include opportunities to lead in a specialist area such as Literacy, Numeracy, Science, or Social Skills interventions, planning and delivering structured programmes to support pupil progress.

The role includes supporting individuals, small groups, and occasionally whole classes, as well as observing pupils and providing regular feedback on academic, social, and emotional development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead targeted small-group intervention sessions and focus
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions, including Literacy, Numeracy, Science, or Social Skills programmes
  • Adapt resources to meet individual learning needs
  • Monitor, track, and report on pupil progress and intervention impact
  • Support pupils’ engagement, independence, and well‑being
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and SENDCO

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary: H3 5-6 (Fringe)
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Ideal location near M11 and Hertfordshire and Essex Borders.
  • A supportive and dynamic working environment.

Applicants should be flexible, with appropriate qualifications and/or experience, able to work on their own initiative and to exhibit supportive leadership skills in a busy team environment.

St Mary’s is committed to the equality of opportunity for all applicants, and we reserve the right to interview on a rolling basis. All staff and volunteers are required to share this commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and a DBS disclosure is required for all successful applicants.
