The role involves aligning multiple project schedules and resource demands into an Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and implementing scheduling standards. The outputs will provide the business with clear visibility and support data‑driven decision‑making. Working within the PMO, you will coordinate project schedules with managers, track status, and produce regular progress reports.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and integrate schedules at both project and programme level using tools such as MS Project.
- Own and manage the Integrated Master Schedule across a portfolio of engineering and defence‑related projects.
- Track and report on schedule progress, including critical path and variance analysis.
- Perform resource loading and levelling, incorporating inputs from a master resource pool to support accurate forecasting.
- Support scenario planning to assess delivery options, resourcing constraints and schedule impacts.
- Integrate schedule data with tools such as Jira, aligning engineering milestones with project timelines.
- Collaborate with Risk Managers to factor risk and uncertainty impacts into schedule forecasts.
- Analyse and report on planned versus actual hours and resource utilisation across the portfolio.
- Provide clear, high‑quality scheduling dashboards and reports to the PMO and senior leadership.
- Drive continuous improvement of scheduling standards, tools and governance across the project controls function.
Qualifications and Experience
- Strong experience in project scheduling or project controls within the defence, marine, engineering or shipbuilding sectors.
- Proficient in scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 and MS Project, with working knowledge of Jira integrations.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret complex project data and produce clear, actionable reporting and insights.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams including project management, engineering and the PMO.
Desirable
- Recognised project management or scheduling qualification (e.g. PMI‑SP, APM PMQ, PRINCE2 or equivalent).
- Familiarity with MOD delivery frameworks and regulated programme environments.
- Exposure to Earned Value Management (EVM) and basic cost‑schedule integration.
- Knowledge of resource management systems, ERP tools or portfolio‑level planning environments.
Security & Eligibility
Selected candidate must meet security requirements, including an existing right to live and work in the UK, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and a likely security check for specific projects.
