Activities Driver

Volunteer by driving adults with learning disabilities to their social events and activities. You may use your own vehicle or one of ours.

Key responsibilities and qualifications

• Safely transport people we support to and from activities, appointments, and outings.
• Provide a friendly and welcoming presence on each journey.
• Assist passengers in and out of the vehicle where needed (training provided).
• Ensure vehicles are used responsibly and kept clean and tidy.
• Communicate any issues or concerns to Harpenden Mencap staff.
• Safe and confident driver with a full, valid driving licence.
• Respectful and supportive towards people with learning disabilities.
• Trustworthy, reliable and punctual.

Additional information

You may drive your own vehicle or Harpenden Mencap’s minibus, people carrier or wheelchair van. Training will be provided. Mileage will be reimbursed.

Opportunities are available on weekdays and weekends in the daytime and evenings to take the people we support to social events and scheduled activities.

Please note that although Harpenden Mencap operates in AL5(Hertfordshire), as part of this role you may be asked to travel to other local areas.
