Are you confident, adaptable, and passionate about working with young people? Milk Education is partnering with a thriving secondary school in Rotherham to recruit a Cover Supervisor to support students across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Whether you’re a graduate exploring a future in teaching, an experienced Cover Supervisor, or someone with a background in coaching, youth work, mentoring, or education, this role offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience and make a positive impact every day.

About the Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you’ll take charge of lessons in the absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain engaged, productive, and focused on their learning. You’ll deliver pre-planned work, maintain classroom standards, and help create an environment where students can succeed.

This is a fantastic opportunity to build your confidence in a school setting while developing skills that are highly valued within education.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Supervising whole classes across a range of secondary subjects.
  • Delivering lesson activities and instructions set by teaching staff.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and high expectations in the classroom.
  • Keeping students focused and engaged throughout lessons.
  • Providing support and guidance where required.
  • Recording attendance and reporting any issues or concerns.
  • Sharing feedback with teachers on student progress and engagement.
  • Promoting a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people.
  • Can communicate confidently and build positive relationships.
  • Is calm, resilient, and able to manage behaviour effectively.
  • Can adapt quickly to different classroom settings and age groups.
  • Has a proactive and professional attitude.
  • Is passionate about supporting young people to achieve their potential.

  • Cover Supervision
  • Teaching Assistant work
  • Tutoring or mentoring
  • Sports coaching
  • Youth work
  • Classroom-based support roles

An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is preferred, although we can support successful applicants through the process if needed.
