About the Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you’ll take charge of lessons in the absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain engaged, productive, and focused on their learning. You’ll deliver pre-planned work, maintain classroom standards, and help create an environment where students can succeed.
This is a fantastic opportunity to build your confidence in a school setting while developing skills that are highly valued within education.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Supervising whole classes across a range of secondary subjects.
- Delivering lesson activities and instructions set by teaching staff.
- Encouraging positive behaviour and high expectations in the classroom.
- Keeping students focused and engaged throughout lessons.
- Providing support and guidance where required.
- Recording attendance and reporting any issues or concerns.
- Sharing feedback with teachers on student progress and engagement.
- Promoting a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
- Has experience working with children or young people.
- Can communicate confidently and build positive relationships.
- Is calm, resilient, and able to manage behaviour effectively.
- Can adapt quickly to different classroom settings and age groups.
- Has a proactive and professional attitude.
- Is passionate about supporting young people to achieve their potential.
Desirable Experience:
- Cover Supervision
- Teaching Assistant work
- Tutoring or mentoring
- Sports coaching
- Youth work
- Classroom-based support roles
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is preferred, although we can support successful applicants through the process if needed.
